A large-scale palace wedding built across two terraces, with a Katb Ketab officiated by Mustafa Hosny, the entire upper terrace reserved for VIP guests and senior government officials, and a high-energy celebration below.

A Mini Wedding can still be a 600-guest production
This celebration combined a Katb Ketab ceremony with a substantial wedding party for approximately 600 guests. The format followed LOriental's Mini Wedding model: ceremony first, followed by a reception-style celebration built around platters, finger food, pass-arounds and live stations.
LOriental was appointed as lead wedding planner, event manager and caterer, so the brief extended beyond food into guest zoning, seating, décor, production, ceremony flow, entertainment coordination and the transition from the Katb Ketab into the party.
One wedding, two different guest experiences
The defining planning decision was to use both terrace levels of Baron Empain Palace. The entire upper terrace was reserved for VIP guests and senior government officials, creating a formal hospitality zone overlooking the celebration below. The lower terrace was built for the couple's younger guests and friends, with high seating, the main dance floor, DJ and a more energetic party atmosphere.
The two terraces operated as distinct hospitality environments within one wedding. Each required its own seating logic, service rhythm, catering format and guest flow, with the upper level carrying the added demands of a high-profile VIP audience.
Designing on the scale of Baron Empain Palace
Baron Empain Palace gave the wedding an extraordinary architectural backdrop, and the event design was built to match that scale. The palace's monumental central staircase became the main processional axis, dressed with a full red carpet and framed by extensive white and blush florals, large urn arrangements and hundreds of candle vessels. The floral treatment continued across the terraces while keeping the palace facade, sculptural details and tower visually dominant.
The lower forecourt was transformed into the main reception environment with extensive guest seating, lounge areas, floral groupings and a large mirrored beverage bar. A storybook-style entrance installation introduced the couple's narrative at the base of the staircase, while the illuminated palace anchored the entire celebration after dark. The scale of the build required setup to begin a full day before the wedding.
Hospitality changed by terrace
The catering plan followed the same two-level logic as the event design.
- Upper terrace — dedicated VIP hospitality for senior government officials and other VIP guests, with seafood and sushi platters, cheese and charcuterie, experiential pass-arounds and Brazilian churrascaria.
- Lower terrace — a large premium finger-food buffet, circulating pass-arounds and live stations including pasta, burgers and Brazilian churrascaria around the dance-floor-led party.
- Across the celebration — vine-leaf sushi, paella and hot experiential pass-arounds added further variety to the service.
Scale multiplied by separation
The central operating challenge combined a 600-guest count with two active terrace levels running at the same time.
Food staging, replenishment, staffing, guest movement, entertainment, seating, bar service and timing all had to function independently on each level, while the VIP terrace required particularly controlled service and guest management.
The production footprint added another layer: architectural structures, floral work, chandeliers, extensive candlelight, furniture, catering infrastructure and entertainment all had to be installed across a large heritage venue before guests arrived.
From ceremony to party under one planning lead
The couple entered from the palace's main staircase before the Katb Ketab ceremony, which was officiated by Mustafa Hosny. The ceremony was followed by the zaffa and the shift into the full wedding party.
With planning, event management and catering under one LOriental lead, the ceremony sequence, VIP terrace, lower-level celebration, food service and entertainment were coordinated as one continuous guest journey.
