About the Giza Plateau
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities identifies the Giza Plateau as the home of the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure and the Great Sphinx. The Great Pyramid, built for Khufu, is the oldest and largest of the three and the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World.
Booking an Event at the Giza Plateau
Private events at the Giza Pyramids Plateau are coordinated operationally through Orascom Pyramids Entertainment (OPE), which manages visitor services and approved event activity across the plateau. Weddings, corporate functions, private dinners and other large-scale events remain subject to the required approvals from the relevant Egyptian authorities, including the Supreme Council of Antiquities and security bodies.
When contracted at the Event Manager, LOriental can assist clients with the booking procedures and venue coordination process, while developing the catering and guest-experience plan around the requirements of the approved event area. Final access, availability and event permissions remain subject to OPE and the relevant authorities.
Recommended LOriental Catering Formats
- Finger Food & Canapés — ideal for arrival and sunset receptions.
- Experiential Passaround — premium circulating service that preserves guest movement and sightlines.
- Open Buffet & Seated Dining — strong for larger approved event compounds with proper back-of-house infrastructure.
- Live Culinary Stations — use in dedicated hospitality zones where heat, power and queues can be managed.
- Non-Alcoholic Live Bar & Mixology — a natural fit for sunset, reception and continuous beverage service.
- Theatrical Passaround — best used for one or two deliberate moments; competing with the pyramids is pointless.
Planning the Catering Around the Site
An event with a view of the Pyramids does not have to take place inside the official Giza Plateau. There are also privately operated event venues, hotels and hospitality spaces nearby that offer strong pyramid views, often with greater flexibility in budget, guest capacity, setup and production.
LOriental maintains partnerships with selected pyramid-view venues and can assist with venue recommendations, booking procedures and full event management, based on the scale, style and budget of the event.
Once the venue is selected, we can coordinate the catering, production and guest experience around its specific access, infrastructure and operating requirements.
Events That Fit the Setting
Destination weddings, diplomatic and cultural receptions, international corporate events, launches, gala dinners and private celebrations can all fit a pyramid-view setting when the approved event area supports the required operation.
Full Event Management: When appointed for full event management, LOriental can assist with venue coordination and the applicable permit and approval process. Access and event permissions remain entirely subject to the relevant authorities.
Case Study: Private Engagement Reception at the Pyramids of Giza
Event date: 16 August 2024
The Event
On 16 August 2024, LOriental catered a private engagement reception at the Pyramids of Giza for the daughter of a senior government official.
The brief called for a premium service format suited to the setting and the importance of the occasion, while keeping the experience fluid and guest-focused.
LOriental’s Scope
LOriental was appointed to provide:
- Experiential Passaround
- Bar and beverage service
- On-site service coordination
The format allowed guests to move freely throughout the reception while maintaining a continuous level of food and beverage service.
The Result
The client was highly satisfied with the service and execution of the engagement reception that led to a much broader relationship with the family. LOriental was subsequently appointed for three further celebrations for the same daughter:
- Katb Ketab ceremony — June 2026
- Henna celebration at home — August 2026
- Wedding in El Gouna — 2026
What began as a single engagement reception at the Pyramids developed into a continuing relationship spanning four important family occasions over two years.
Why This Event Matters
The strongest endorsement was the repeat business. After the Pyramids engagement, the family continued to trust LOriental with the celebrations that followed, from an intimate home event to the wedding itself in El Gouna.
