• Seated Dining Catering in Egypt

    PLATED, FAMILY-STYLE & TABLE-SIDE DINING

A formal meal has to arrive as one service, not fifty separate plates.

Seated event catering asks the kitchen to do something very different from a restaurant. Instead of individual tables ordering at different times, dozens or hundreds of guests may need the same course within a very short service window.

LOriental Moments builds seated dining around that reality: menu choice, plating, temperature, holding time, table sequence, service routes and the pace of the event are considered together.

Choose a plated multi-course dinner, family-style service or a combination of both. Add reception canapés, live table-side finishing, dessert experiences and non-alcoholic beverages where they improve the meal.

Seated dining is a different kind of service

A dish can taste perfect at the pass and still be wrong for a synchronized event. We need to know what happens while multiple plates are assembled, how the sauce behaves, how long the food can wait before leaving the kitchen and whether the texture will survive the distance to the table.

A slow braise such as Beef Bourguignon has very different service characteristics from Sea Bass with Lemon Beurre Blanc. Butter-Poached Lobster depends on careful temperature control. Ossobuco alla Milanese comes from a long braise and gives the kitchen a different holding window. Those differences affect the menu before the event ever begins.

Choose your seated service style

Plated multi-course dining

A classic sequence of individually plated courses served to each guest. The menu can move through starters, soup or salad, a primi course, main course and dessert, with beverages running alongside the meal. This format gives the greatest control over pacing and presentation.

Family-style dining

Selected dishes arrive on elegant shared platters at the table. Guests remain seated, but the meal feels warmer and more social. Family-style service works particularly well when the host wants generosity and conversation without sending guests to a buffet.

A combination of both

Formal does not have to mean rigid. A dinner can begin with plated starters, move into shared mains and sides, then finish with an individually plated dessert or live sweet service. The service format can change across the meal if the transitions are planned cleanly.

Beyond Our Signature Canapés

Finger food and canapés are our specialty. Full-service catering is what we do.

Our specialization in finger food and canapés sits inside a much broader catering operation. The same team can take an event from reception canapés through main-course dining, live culinary experiences, desserts and beverages.

Our kitchen covers poultry, beef and seafood alongside salads, starters, pasta, rice dishes, substantial sides and desserts. Representative dishes include Beef Bourguignon, Moroccan Beef Tagine, Butter Chicken, Sea Bass with Lemon Beurre Blanc, Seafood Paella, Mushroom & Truffle Ravioli, Muammar Rice with Duck and Potato Gratin Dauphinois.

Many dishes can move between buffet presentation and individually plated seated service, which gives us room to build very different event formats from the same wider culinary collection.

Current set-menu directions

LOriental's current seated collection includes established menu directions that can be used as a starting point, then adjusted around the guest profile, event and venue.

The Oriental Set Menu

A Middle Eastern-led seated format built around vine leaf bites, cheese fatayer and mazalika with pomegranate molasses; Fattoush, beetroot hummus, tahini and toumeya; a mixed grill of tandoori sheesh tawouk, grilled kofta and lamb chop; Riz Royal with nuts and grilled vegetables; followed by Cardamom-Infused Date Mousse Konafa, Caramel Pecan Baklava and fresh fruit.

The European Set Menu

A more classical European direction with Mushroom Cappuccino Soup with Truffle Oil, Beef Tartare Crostini and Cranberry Pecan Goat Cheese Truffles; Arugula Grison Walnut Salad; Beef Fillet Medallions with Mushroom Sauce; Potato Gratin Dauphinois and baby carrots with thyme; then Brownie with Spicy Candied Nuts and vanilla ice cream.

The Asian Set Menu

An Asian-led sequence with Shrimp Tempura, Vegetable Spring Rolls and Thai Chicken Satay with Peanut-Tamarind Sauce; Asian Cucumber Salad with toasted sesame dressing; glazed Salmon Teriyaki with jasmine rice and ginger-soy vegetables; then Coconut & Mango Verrine and fresh fruit.

These are menu starting points rather than the limit of seated dining. A bespoke dinner can be developed from the wider culinary collection when the event needs a different direction.

Build a bespoke plated menu

Many dishes in the wider LOriental collection are marked for buffet display or plated seated service, which gives us more room than the three established set menus alone.

Depending on the service plan, a seated menu can draw on dishes such as Chicken Piccata, Duck with Orange Sauce, Beef Bourguignon, Beef Medallions, Moroccan Beef Tagine, Ossobuco alla Milanese, Salmon Teriyaki, Sea Bass with Lemon Beurre Blanc, Butter-Poached Lobster, Seafood Risotto, Potato Gratin Dauphinois, Mushroom & Truffle Ravioli and Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli.

The final selection is made around more than taste. We look at plating complexity, guest count, holding characteristics, service distance, course timing and the venue's back-of-house conditions.

Seated dining in practice

Recent LOriental seated events show how different the format can become depending on the audience and occasion.

British University in Egypt

For a 70-guest seated lunch attended by the British Ambassador, the menu included Apple Cranberry Pecan Salad and Fattoush, Mediterranean Mezze, Chicken Piccata or Beef Tenderloin, basmati rice and grilled vegetables, followed by Tiramisu Dirt Cups, Chocolate Hazelnut Tartlets and Mango & Coconut Verrines.

Dominican Embassy

For a 15-guest diplomatic meal, the sequence included Smoked Salmon Roulade in crêpes with caviar, Apple Cranberry Pecan Salad, Beef Medallions with peanut-tamarind sauce, truffle mashed potatoes and glazed baby carrots, followed by Vanilla Crème Brûlée.

NMEC — Chinese delegation

For a 100-guest seated meal, the menu included Shrimp Tempura, Vegetable Spring Rolls and Chicken Satay; Asian Cucumber Salad; Beef with Broccoli; Teriyaki Salmon with rice and ginger-soy vegetables; then Mango & Coconut dessert and fresh fruit.

Before Dinner: Canapés & Passaround

The dining experience can begin before anyone sits down.

The seated experience can begin before anyone sits down. A canapé reception gives guests something immediate during arrival, photography, greetings or networking and creates a clean transition into dinner.

Choose conventional canapé display, premium Experiential Passaround or selected Theatrical Pass-Around when the arrival of the food should become a visible moment.

Table-Side & Mobile Culinary Theatre

Keep the guests seated. Bring the finishing step to them. Selected live culinary experiences can be adapted for seated dining, turning finishing, carving, portioning or presentation into part of the meal. Pasta Viva and Risotto Rêverie can be configured for table-side service, while mobile food carts can move through the room and bring the final stage of preparation closer to the guest.

Other suitable formats can include carving, controlled reveals and dessert rituals where the service moment adds something meaningful to the course. The benefit is not only visual. Bringing the final step closer to the table can also help protect temperature, texture and freshness when the dish benefits from last-minute finishing.

This is where Theatrical Hospitality can enter seated dining. It should remain selective and controlled. The strongest expressions are table-side preparation, mobile-cart service, carving, reveal and other deliberately designed guest-facing moments.

The dinner should still feel composed. For executive, diplomatic and formal events, restraint is often the right choice. The theatrical element should support the meal rather than compete with the people at the table.

Where seated dining works best

The format should follow the occasion.

Formal weddings

Seated dining suits weddings with a protected dinner window, formal table plan and controlled programme. The evening can still begin with passed canapés and include one live or theatrical moment without turning the whole dinner into a performance.

Executive & client dinners

For senior guests, the menu needs enough character to be remembered while the service protects conversation, timing and privacy. A shorter plated menu, restrained table-side service and a well-briefed team usually work better than an oversized production footprint.

For full-day programmes, lunch can be coordinated with morning and afternoon coffee break catering.

Diplomatic & governmental events

Official dinners may require protocol, seating plans, service cut-offs, security procedures and clear staff routes. The menu can balance Egyptian and Middle Eastern hospitality with international dishes for a mixed delegation, while presentation remains appropriately restrained.

Private dinners

A smaller guest count makes service more visible. That can support a highly controlled plated menu, family-style dining around one table or a mixed format with one table-side finishing element.

The venue decides what is realistic

Seated service is sensitive to distance. The longer the route from preparation to the table, the harder it becomes to protect temperature, plate condition and synchronized timing.

Before the menu is confirmed, we review the table plan, guest count, preparation and plating space, access, service doors or routes, power, water and the time available for each course. At unusual venues, the operational plan may change the dish selection.

Beverages

Pair the meal with LOriental’s non-alcoholic beverage service. The collection includes non-alcoholic cocktails, seasonal fresh juices, tea, coffee, live karak, specialty drinks, welcome service and table-side beverage service. Premium formats can include live mixology and customized bar décor.

Full-service seated catering

LOriental Moments is a full-service caterer. A seated dinner is planned as one coordinated operation, not as restaurant plates transported to an event.

Depending on the confirmed scope, our team handles menu planning, production, transportation, back-of-house preparation, plating areas, trained service teams, course sequencing, table-side or live elements, beverages and breakdown.

The same discipline that applies to the food also applies to the room: service routes, table timing and the moments when staff should disappear are part of the plan.

Plan your seated dinner

Send us the event date, event type, venue or area, expected guest count, table plan if available and the part of the programme allocated to dinner. Tell us whether you are considering plated service, family-style dining or a mixed format.

You do not need to have every dish selected. We can start from the event, guest profile and service window, then build the menu around what the room and kitchen can execute properly.

Tastings

Tasting visits are available by appointment at the LOriental Office Lounge in New Cairo, subject to availability and the selected menu. For larger or more customized events, the tasting is used to confirm food, service direction and presentation before the final event plan is locked.
