ADNOC Distribution Egypt Launch: Two Hospitality Formats at Degla Maadi

For the launch of ADNOC Distribution’s first branded service stations in Egypt, LOriental ran two hospitality systems at the Degla Maadi station: passed canapés and a branded beverage bar for the press audience, alongside a seated breakfast for senior government, diplomatic and corporate guests.

  • DATE: 23 SEP 2023
  • EVENT: FIRST 3 ADNOC-BRANDED SERVICE STATIONS IN EGYPT
  • VENUE: ADNOC DEGLA MAADI, CAIRO
  • APPOINTMENT: INNOVATION CREW

The launch marked a new chapter in Egypt

On 23 September 2023, ADNOC Distribution inaugurated its first three ADNOC-branded service stations in Egypt. The opening ceremony took place at the new Degla Maadi station, with the other two initial sites in Obour City and on the Suez Ring Road. The launch formed part of ADNOC Distribution’s expansion through its joint venture with TotalEnergies Marketing Egypt.

Innovation Crew, the agency handling the event assignment, commissioned LOriental for the hospitality. The guest profile included senior Egyptian officials, UAE diplomatic representation, ADNOC Distribution leadership, TotalEnergies executives and the press. Among those attending were then-Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla, UAE Ambassador Mariam Al Kaabi, then-Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal, EGPC President Alaa El Batal and ADNOC Distribution CEO Bader Saeed Al Lamki.

One launch, two service models

The event could not be treated as one undifferentiated reception. The main launch tent carried the press conference, speeches and presentation programme, where guests needed food and drinks that could move around a standing media environment. LOriental used passed finger food and canapés, supported by a beverage bar, for that audience.

A separate VIP tent required a different rhythm. Senior officials and executives were seated at table for breakfast, so the service shifted from circulation and accessibility to formal plated hospitality. The two formats ran within the same launch but were designed around very different guest behaviour.

The bar became part of the brand environment

LOriental’s digital bar carried ADNOC branding on screen. Instead of placing a generic beverage counter beside the event, the service point became part of the launch identity itself.

That choice also suited the press-heavy setting: drinks remained quick to access while the branded display stayed visually connected to the corporate environment around it.

Breakfast for a ministerial table

The VIP breakfast centred on a plated presentation LOriental called the Crepe Trio: three coloured crêpe rolls served together as one composed course. The yellow crêpe held smoked salmon and cream cheese; the red crêpe combined Grisons beef and Gruyère; the green crêpe used spinach and mushroom. Bread-and-butter baskets were served at the table.

The presentation gave the breakfast a formal character without turning a morning inauguration into a heavy dining programme. The Crepe Trio later became a recognizable LOriental plated format, but here its role was specific to the occasion: composed service for a senior table inside a corporate launch.

A fuel service-station launch changes the operating plan

Degla Maadi was a fuel-retail launch site, not a hotel or conference venue with built-in catering infrastructure. Accordingly, the event relied on temporary structures beside the station: a large main tent for the official programme and a separate VIP tent for seated dining.

That meant both hospitality systems had to be ready in parallel. Passed bites and beverages had to follow the timing of the press programme, while the VIP service required controlled plating, bread service and synchronized presentation. The operational plan had to support both without allowing one format to disrupt the other.

Public launch, precise hospitality

The inauguration generated broad media coverage in Egypt and the UAE and publicly marked ADNOC Distribution’s entry into branded fuel retail in Egypt. The hospitality operation brought together an unconventional launch site, two simultaneous service formats, visible brand integration and formal service for senior government, diplomatic and corporate guests within one programme.

Public launch context

The event is independently documented by ADNOC Distribution’s official launch announcement, with additional public coverage from Cairo Governorate and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
