One definitive Mini Wedding in brief
Approximately 600 guests at Baron Empain Palace, with the Katb Ketab and wedding party planned across two active terraces. One level served the parents' VIP guests as a composed lounge. The other supported the couple's younger guests with a dance floor, finger-food buffet, circulating service and live stations.
LOriental led the planning, event management and catering, connecting the ceremony, production, guest zoning, service and entertainment under one operating plan.
Full-service quality without a fixed wedding formula
A smaller-format or more intimate wedding still needs deliberate menu development, polished service and a clear event rhythm. The format should feel complete, not like a reduced version of a larger wedding package.
A home or garden celebration may centre on passed canapés, sharing platters and a compact buffet. A venue reception may add live cooking and continuous beverage service. A larger Mini Wedding can use separate guest zones, different service rhythms and several food formats inside one celebration.

Catering packages designed for Mini Weddings
LOriental has three complete catering packages that work especially well for Mini Weddings: Dînatoire, Signature and Grand Buffet. They give couples a clear starting point while still allowing the food, service flow, live elements and beverage programme to be adjusted around the venue, guest count and style of celebration.
Dînatoire suits reception-led celebrations built around movement, finger food and circulating service. Signature creates a fuller hospitality experience by combining several catering formats across the evening. Grand Buffet is designed for couples who want a more extensive buffet-led celebration with greater variety and scale.
Each can be adapted around the ceremony and reception rather than treated as a rigid package.
The reception should follow the way guests will use it
Mini Weddings often rely on movement. Guests may shift from the ceremony into a standing reception, gather around live stations, move between indoor and outdoor spaces or settle into a relaxed lounge arrangement. Food needs to remain easy to reach while service continues without interrupting the celebration.
We shape the sequence around arrival time, ceremony length, guest mix, venue layout and the moment the party changes pace. That may mean a fast first round of canapés, platters for seated family groups, stations opening later or a live bar running throughout.
Venue fit for intimate and large-format receptions
Homes, gardens, private dining rooms and compact venues can support a close, personal atmosphere. Larger venues can work when the couple wants a reception-led format with more guests, more movement or several active zones.
The important questions are practical: where food can be staged, how far service teams must travel, what power the stations need, how guests move after the ceremony and whether separate areas require independent replenishment. Baron Empain Palace shows how those decisions can multiply across a heritage venue.

Mini Wedding case study
Helmy Al Assar & Reem Leila — Mini Wedding at Baron Empain Palace
This 600-guest celebration proves the format can carry full-scale planning. A more formal VIP terrace and a higher-energy lower terrace each needed their own catering, service and guest-flow plan while the entire event remained one coordinated wedding.
What has to work behind the scenes
Reception-style service looks relaxed only when timing is controlled. Food has to reach guests quickly after the ceremony, live stations need enough capacity for the expected flow, and replenishment must continue without creating visible queues or empty displays.
When the celebration uses several zones, each one needs its own staging, staffing and service rhythm. The menu and venue plan therefore have to be developed together before the final format is fixed.
