Opening a new office with an Egyptian identity
Bayer Egypt engaged LOriental for the inauguration of its new office at Mivida in New Cairo. The brief was for a 150-guest corporate celebration, but the hospitality needed a stronger sense of place than a standard office-opening reception.
The answer was a Pharaonic-inspired direction applied across the guest-facing experience. The concept appeared in the décor and presentation, in the service team’s styling, in Egyptian references within the food, and in live food-and-beverage elements that kept the event active without allowing the styling to overtake the corporate setting.
A theme carried through the service
The strongest part of the concept was its consistency. Pharaonic-style service costumes and presentation details created the visual language, while the menu translated the same idea into recognisable Egyptian flavours and formats.
Selected dishes included pigeon-infused meammar rice bites, koshari bites with garlic vinaigrette, keshk with crispy onion, stuffed cabbage roulade and courgette with caramelised beef and béchamel. Desserts included baklawa, date-mousse konafa, rice pudding and fresh fruit skewers.
Because the cultural reference appeared through several parts of the service, the theme did not depend on décor alone. Guests encountered it in what they saw, what they ate and how the hospitality moved through the space.
From tasting to the final menu
The menu was refined before the inauguration rather than treated as a fixed list from the outset. Bayer reviewed options through a tasting process, and the final direction moved toward the Egyptian hot-bite assortment alongside a live meat experience.
That step mattered because a broad theme can become superficial if it is not translated into specific food and service decisions. The tasting helped narrow the idea into a menu that could carry the concept while still functioning as corporate hospitality for 150 guests.
Live churrascaria and beverage service
The inauguration also included a live churrascaria programme with sirloin, ribeye, filet mignon, oriental sausage and shish tawook, alongside a live non-alcoholic bar, mixology and espresso service.
The churrascaria gave the food programme an active live element rather than relying only on pre-plated presentation. It added movement and interaction to the event, while the bar created a second live hospitality point. The Pharaonic styling remained a visual and service concept around those live moments.
Corporate character without losing the setting
An office inauguration still has to work as a business event. The Egyptian identity therefore needed to be visible enough to make the occasion distinctive, while leaving room for colleagues and guests to meet, circulate and experience the new workplace.
The result was a corporate format with a clear cultural point of view: themed food, presentation and staff styling, reinforced by live service rather than by a separate entertainment programme.
Two engagements followed
The May inauguration became the anchor of LOriental’s Bayer relationship, and Bayer returned for two other engagements at the same Mivida premises later in 2024.
On 30 September, LOriental catered an internal corporate event and on 13 November, the scope was a smaller employee-motivation event. These were separate assignments, reinforcing the repeat-client outcome.
The difference in scale is useful. Bayer returned after the 150-guest launch for more intimate internal formats, showing that the relationship could move from a high-visibility opening to everyday corporate hospitality needs.
What the relationship demonstrates
The Bayer case combines two types of proof. The inauguration shows concept-to-execution capability: a cultural idea translated into food, presentation, service styling and live hospitality. The follow-up engagements show repeat trust from the same corporate client later in the year.
Together, the three delivered assignments form a stronger story than the opening alone. The first event was distinctive because of scale and concept; the later work shows that the relationship continued after the launch moment had passed.
